DC Fashion Week- Go Neutral with a Pop

Hey girl hey!

So last year I put on my vision board to attend New York’s Fashion week and then I won tickets to the 2019 New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer show (won’t he do it). I must say that experience was pretty amazing. Aside from it being cold, I enjoyed walking the streets and drawing inspirations from those around me. Truthfully, I enjoy watching people show their own personal styles, to me that’s what fashion is about. If anything this is what I love about my city, there’s art everywhere.

Here’s a few pictures from what I wore. The inspiration for this outfit was classy glam with a twist.

So when I got invited to attend District of Fashion Runaway Show for the 2019 DC Fashion week I thrilled. As a fellow New Yorker, I wanted to see what the DC fashion scene had to offer. I decided to invite my friend and blogger Candace. She’s a native Washingtonian and I felt like event was up her alley. Plus, who wants to attend a show alone.

Tickets were secured and I had a date to the event but now here comes the hard part. WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR? I am normally fashionable late on time because I can ever figure out what to wear.

Most people know me for mixing patterns and rocking bold colors. However, I felt inspired to go for a neutral look with a pop of color. I thrifted this utility romper at my local Goodwill and couldn’t wait to style it with my bold green Zara booties. I wore these booties to my first fashion show and they were a hit so I knew I wanted to wear them again.

At first, I thought I wanted to go for the oversized look but with my petite curvy frame it wasn’t appealing. So I grabbed this gold rusted belt to help create some dimension and the outfit felt complete. Now, it was time to accessorize with my favorite earrings and gold clutch.

Anytime I need inspiration for a look I love utilizing Pinterest. Here a few of the inspirations for my look. Although I browse Pinterest often, I still find ways to add my own style.

Overall, the Fashion show was entertaining and I did enjoy a lot of the designers. However, my biggest inspiration comes from the attendees. Fashion inspiration is all around just look. If you want a recap of my experience check out my “Events highlight” here.
